The Florida Panthers will play their important game against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Wednesday without their captain.
Center Aleksander Barkov will not participate in the game, as reported by Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet.
Barkov briefly left the game against the Montreal Canadiens, but returned, even though the Panthers lost 3-2 in overtime.
The cause of his injury remains unclear.
Barkov, 29, is having another excellent season with the Panthers, scoring 19 goals and 67 points in 64 games, while playing over 20 minutes per game on average.
He joins other injured Panthers players, as Matthew Tkachuk and Aaron Ekblad are also currently out. The team is competing with the Maple Leafs and Tampa Bay Lightning for the top spot in the Atlantic Division.
