Alexandrova Dominates Andreeva to Reach Stuttgart Quarterfinals

Ekaterina Alexandrova continued her strong form in 2025, overpowering No. 6 seed Mirra Andreeva with a decisive 6-3, 6-2 victory in just 65 minutes. This win propels Alexandrova into the quarterfinals of the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix.

Key Match Highlights

The match in Stuttgart saw Alexandrova secure her fourth Top 10 win of the season and her 18th overall. Notably, she previously achieved a higher count of Top 10 wins only once, with five in 2021. Alexandrova, currently ranked No. 22 in the world, is having a successful season, marked by her fifth WTA title win in Linz in February and subsequent semifinal appearances in Doha and Charleston.

In their first encounter, Andreeva, the 17-year-old champion of Dubai and Indian Wells, initially showed promise by breaking serve in the first game. However, Alexandrova quickly responded, breaking back immediately after an Andreeva double fault. From that point onward, Alexandrova asserted her dominance with a powerful serve and aggressive game.

Throughout the match, the 30-year-old Alexandrova fired 19 winners, including eight aces, compared to Andreeva`s 11. Andreeva struggled with her first serve, landing only 48% and accumulating 24 unforced errors.

Speaking after the match, Alexandrova acknowledged, “Before the match, I prepared for a very tough contest, and in moments it was indeed challenging, regardless of the scoreline.” In the quarterfinals, she is set to face either No. 3 seed Jessica Pegula or Magdalena Frech.
