Playoff participation of promising forward Aliaksei Protas is now uncertain.

Washington Capitals head coach Spencer Carbery announced on Sunday that the sniper is out week-to-week due to a lower-body injury.

Protas was injured on Friday in the third period of a 5-3 victory against the Chicago Blackhawks, needing assistance to leave the ice.

The Belarusian forward appeared to injure his left leg.

This season, the 24-year-old Protas has accumulated 66 points (30 goals and 36 assists) in 76 games for the Eastern Conference leading Capitals.

His previous career highs, set last season, were 6 goals and 23 assists.

The Capitals have six regular season games remaining, with the season concluding on April 17.
