CALGARY — It definitely had the feel of a farewell press conference.
Amidst ongoing discussions about his future, Rasmus Andersson concluded his ninth season in Calgary on Saturday with comments that strongly suggested he believes his time with the Calgary Flames is nearing its end.
“I want to be honest, but I just don’t know what is going to happen,” stated Andersson, who is set to enter the final year of his six-year, $27.3 million contract on July 1st.
“However, I hope the fans are aware that I cherished every moment here, and I have never taken it for granted.”
“There are many talented young players within the organization, and, as you know, there is a limit to the number of right-shot defensemen a team can have.”
“I wish I could confidently say, ‘yes, I am signing on July 1st,’ or ‘I am being traded on July 1st,’ but currently, I cannot. I simply don’t know.”
