Mirra Andreeva continues her dominant performance, securing another win and adding to her impressive statistics. Her victory count for the year is now at 20, with a remarkable 13 consecutive wins.
The 17-year-old Andreeva, after a bye in the first round, defeated Veronika Kudermetova with a score of 6-0, 6-2 in her debut match at the Miami Open presented by Itaú on Friday. This marks her very first appearance at this prestigious tournament.
Here are some key highlights from Andreeva`s recent victory:
6: Currently seeded eleventh, Andreeva has climbed to No. 6 in the WTA rankings following her Indian Wells title win last week. She now aims to achieve the Sunshine Double, a feat never before accomplished by a teenager, by winning both Indian Wells and Miami consecutively.
20: Leading the WTA Tour in main-draw match wins this year, Andreeva became the first player in 2025 to reach 20 tour-level victories by defeating Kudermetova, a former Top 10 player, in their first encounter. Her latest win was achieved in just 68 minutes.
13: Andreeva`s current winning streak has reached 13 matches, all at WTA 1000 events. She is in pursuit of her third consecutive WTA 1000 title, following her triumphs in Dubai in February and Indian Wells the previous week.
3: Since the introduction of the WTA 1000 tier in 2009, only three players have managed to win three WTA 1000 titles in a row. Andreeva aims to join this elite group, which includes former World No. 1 players Serena Williams, Iga Swiatek, and Caroline Wozniacki.
2005: Still under 18, Andreeva is the youngest player to achieve a 13-match winning streak across all WTA Tour levels since Nicole Vaidisova in 2005. It`s worth noting that Andreeva was born in 2007.
1: Andreeva is the first teenager to ever win 13 consecutive WTA 1000 matches. She is also only the third player in this decade to win 13 or more matches in a row at WTA 1000 events, alongside Grand Slam champions Iga Swiatek and Elena Rybakina.
10: In the first set against Kudermetova, Andreeva won 10 points consecutively. She easily secured the first set, hitting seven winners compared to Kudermetova`s one.
9: At 6-0, 2-0, Kudermetova had her first break points, but Andreeva successfully defended both to extend her game winning streak to nine. Kudermetova then managed to win a game, but Andreeva maintained control and secured the victory.
0-0: Andreeva`s next challenge in the third round is against Amanda Anisimova, the No. 17 seed and WTA 1000 Doha champion. This will be their first ever match.
