The tennis world speculates if wedding bells might soon ring for another prominent couple.
While they haven`t followed in the footsteps of recently married or engaged tennis pairs like Madison Keys and Bjorn Fratangelo or Katie Bouler and Alex de Minaur, Paula Badosa and Stefanos Tsitsipas were playful when asked about their relationship`s future on Monday at the Laureus World Sports Awards red carpet.
Appearing together on the red carpet in matching white ensembles by Pedro del Hierro – which they humorously noted was `a Greek color` – the couple suggested their attire wasn`t far off from wedding wear.
“Maybe it`s a sign,” Badosa commented, while Tsitsipas added they`d even considered “dreamy locales” for a potential “Greek wedding.”
However, they clarified that no final decisions have been made, with Tsitsipas stating they`re “still trying to figure it out.”
Badosa added playfully, “We`re competing, like Spain, Greece, Spain, Greece. But Greece has my heart.”
The event, held in Madrid just before the combined ATP Masters 1000 and WTA 1000 tournament, also saw the attendance of other top tennis players.
Carlos Alcaraz was nominated for World Sportsman of the Year (an award presented by Novak Djokovic), while Rafael Nadal received the Laureus Sporting Icon Award. Other notable tennis attendees included Belinda Bencic, Caroline Garcia, Garbiñe Muguruza, and Donna Vekic.
Tsitsipas admitted he felt star-struck by the presence of other global sports figures like Simone Biles, Rebecca Andrade, and Lindsey Vonn.
Reflecting on the experience, Tsitsipas remarked that attending such a gala was new for both him and Paula, stating their outfits created an “amazing transformation” and the night felt like “a Hollywood movie.”
