Benn, Stars Again Fall Short of Stanley Cup After Third-Straight West Final

DALLAS — Over the last three decades, the Dallas Stars have achieved a rare feat in reaching the conference finals for three consecutive seasons.

However, during this impressive run, they failed to win a Stanley Cup and did not even manage to reach the final series itself.

“Three years in a row now, you get that close and you come up short … obviously not a good feeling,” remarked Jamie Benn, the team`s captain, who is nearing 36 and is set to become an unrestricted free agent after spending 16 seasons with Dallas.

For the third straight season, and the second time against Edmonton, the Stars` journey concluded with a loss in the Western Conference final. Their most recent defeat was a 6-3 loss in Game 5 on home ice Thursday night.
