Michael Bisping, the former UFC middleweight champion and now a prominent commentator and analyst, recently shared his thoughts on the possibility of a fight between Khamzat Chimaev and Paulo Borralho for an interim title.
Bisping strongly opposed the idea, labeling it as “madness.” He argued that there is no need for discussions about a temporary belt because the current undisputed champion, Dricus du Plessis, remains active. Bisping pointed out that while Du Plessis intended to compete at the end of June, he sustained an injury, which is a common occurrence in the sport.
According to Bisping, the only scenario that would potentially justify holding an interim title bout is if Dricus du Plessis required surgery that would sideline him for a significant period. He expressed these views on his personal YouTube channel.
