The Columbus Blue Jackets have secured forward Dmitri Voronkov, re-signing the restricted free agent to a two-year contract worth $8.35 million. This agreement allows Voronkov to continue building on his promising performance from his most recent season.
The 24-year-old forward was productive last season, tallying 23 goals and 24 assists over 73 games.
Blue Jackets President and General Manager Don Waddell expressed satisfaction with the deal, stating in a release:
“We are very pleased to reach this agreement with Dmitri as he is an important part of our young core. He has size, strength and excellent hands and has a chance to be a very special player. We look forward to his continued growth and development as a Blue Jacket.”
Columbus originally drafted the six-foot-five Russian winger in the fourth round, 114th overall, of the 2019 NHL Entry Draft.
He spent the subsequent four seasons playing in the KHL before transitioning to North America for the 2023-24 season.
Voronkov also represented Russia at the 2022 Olympics, where the team earned a silver medal.
