New York Islanders forward Bo Horvat is expected to miss four to six weeks after sustaining an ankle injury while competing at the recent hockey world championship. General Manager Mathieu Darche confirmed the timeline on Thursday. Horvat`s recovery means his off-season training will be delayed.
The 30-year-old forward, who hails from London, Ontario, departed Team Canada before their final group-stage match due to the injury. Canada was later eliminated by Denmark in the quarterfinals.
During the tournament, Horvat played in six games for Canada, contributing four goals, including two game-winners, and four assists.
This past NHL season, Horvat recorded 57 points (28 goals, 29 assists) in 81 games for the Islanders. He is currently under contract with the team on Long Island until the 2030-31 season, carrying an $8.5 million annual salary.
