VANCOUVER — Speculation about Brock Boeser`s potential departure from the Vancouver Canucks arose on social media after a fan posted a selfie on Tuesday featuring the winger in his car holding a signed team jersey.
Ahead of what could be his last game for the Canucks on Wednesday night, Boeser was questioned about whether he indeed took home a jersey autographed by his teammates from the rink.
“Yes,” he clarified on Wednesday morning, “it was for my girlfriend’s mother.”
Despite Boeser`s previous statement last week that his return to Vancouver after this season was “unlikely,” the possibility of a breakthrough in contract negotiations remains. This could happen before the veteran Canuck player becomes a free agent in the National Hockey League on July 1st.
As the 28-year-old Minnesota native gets ready for his 554th game with the Canucks, the right winger is still hopeful that Wednesday’s game against the Vegas Golden Knights might not be his final appearance in Vancouver.
