The Calgary Flames have secured defenseman Kevin Bahl with a multi-year contract extension.
The club announced on Saturday that Bahl`s new deal spans six years, carrying an average annual value (AAV) of $5.35 million.
The 25-year-old blueliner was acquired by the Flames from the New Jersey Devils as part of a trade involving goaltender Jacob Markstrom. Calgary also utilized the first-round draft pick obtained in that transaction to select Cole Reschny 18th overall.
Last season, the New Westminster, B.C., native recorded three goals and 20 points over 73 games, averaging a career-high 21 minutes and 23 seconds of ice time. Across his 221-game NHL career, Bahl has accumulated seven goals and 45 points.
Originally a second-round selection by the Arizona Coyotes in the 2018 NHL Draft, Bahl was later traded to the Devils in 2019.
