Canadiens Earn Crucial Point Despite Shootout Loss to Avalanche

On Saturday, the Colorado Avalanche defeated the Montreal Canadiens 5-4 in a shootout, despite a remarkable third-period comeback from Montreal. Brock Nelson scored the decisive shootout goal in the fourth round.

Charlie Coyle of Colorado also scored in the shootout, while Patrik Laine scored for Montreal.

In regulation time, Nelson contributed a goal and an assist. Martin Necas, Sam Malinski, and Ryan Lindgren also scored for Colorado (43-25-3). Goaltender Mackenzie Blackwood made 25 saves.

Canadiens forwards Joshua Roy and Juraj Slafkovsky scored twice within 30 seconds in the middle of the third period, narrowing Colorado`s lead to 4-3. Subsequently, Christian Dvorak tied the game at 13:32, sparking excitement at the Bell Centre.
