Canadiens Notebook: Needing more from Laine, cross-checks and Bell Centre boost

As the playoff series between the Montreal Canadiens and the Washington Capitals heads to the Bell Centre, the topic of home-ice advantage comes up. Brendan Gallagher, the only current player on the team who experienced playoff hockey in a packed Bell Centre prior to the 2021 run with COVID restrictions, would have been the perfect person to discuss this unique atmosphere he knew from his four playoff appearances between 2013 and 2017.

However, Gallagher was unavailable for Thursday morning`s media session. He was focused on icing his mouth after receiving two cross-checks to the face in the first two games against the Capitals. He is scheduled to undergo dental procedures in Montreal.

Meanwhile, Cole Caufield managed to avoid serious injury despite also taking a cross-check to the jaw from Nic Dowd in the final moments of Game 2.
