Zack Bolduc is experiencing a mix of emotions as he joins the Montreal Canadiens, the team he supported in his youth.
Before the start of NHL free agency on Tuesday, the Montreal Canadiens traded defenseman Logan Mailloux to the St. Louis Blues in exchange for forward Zack Bolduc.
Speaking via video conference, Bolduc mentioned his fondness for the people and lifelong friends he made in St. Louis. However, he added that he is “super excited” because the Canadiens are the team he followed while growing up.
Bolduc also commented that the trade came as a complete surprise to him.
He described feeling surprised when St. Louis Blues general manager Doug Armstrong called him unexpectedly after a training session in Quebec City, his off-season training location.
