Canucks Rally in the Third Period to Defeat Islanders

NEW YORK — Kiefer Sherwood was the star of the night, scoring two goals and providing one assist, as the Vancouver Canucks overcame the New York Islanders with a 5-2 victory on Wednesday night. Goaltender Thatcher Demko was solid in net, stopping 26 shots.

Aatu Raty, Derek Forbort, and Teddy Blueger also contributed to Vancouver`s scoring.

For the Islanders, Casey Cizikas and Tony DeAngelo managed to find the back of the net. Ilya Sorokin, the Islanders` goalie, allowed 4 goals on 19 shots before being replaced by Marcus Hogberg in the third period, who made 5 saves in relief.

The game shifted dramatically in the third period when the Canucks, trailing 2-1, exploded for three goals in just over seven minutes, securing a 4-2 lead and ultimately the win.
