Capitals Beat Islanders as Strome Nets Hat Trick

NEW YORK — Dylan Strome was the star of the night, scoring three goals as the Washington Capitals secured a 3-1 win against the New York Islanders on Tuesday.

This hat trick marks the third in Strome`s NHL career. Goalie Charlie Lindgren was solid in net for Washington, stopping 33 shots after the team had lost their previous two games.

Jean-Gabriel Pageau managed to score for New York in the third period, while their goalie, Ilya Sorokin, also made 33 saves.

The Islanders` loss means they have lost four of their last five games and will miss the playoffs for the second time in the last four years. Their season will conclude with a game in Columbus on Thursday.

On the other hand, the Capitals are heading to the playoffs as Metropolitan Division champions.

Strome completed his hat trick with an empty-netter at 18:49 in the third period, sealing the Capitals` victory.
