The Washington Capitals announced on Monday the re-signing of Canadian goaltender Garin Bjorklund.

The agreement is a one-year, two-way contract with an average annual value (AAV) of $775,000.

The 23-year-old netminder spent the recent season primarily in the ECHL with the South Carolina Stingrays. In 29 regular season games, he posted a 2.02 goals-against average and a .927 save percentage. His save percentage ranked third among goalies in the league.

Bjorklund also made his American Hockey League (AHL) debut with the Capitals` affiliate, the Hershey Bears, last March. In a limited sample size with the Bears, he holds a record of 2-0-0 with a 1.49 goals-against average.

The Washington Capitals originally selected Bjorklund in the sixth round, 179th overall, of the 2020 NHL Entry Draft.
