Veteran forward Claude Giroux will continue his career with the Ottawa Senators.
The team announced Sunday that Giroux signed a one-year extension, bypassing free agency.
The contract is valued at $2 million in base salary for the upcoming season, with potential earnings reaching $4.75 million through performance bonuses.
Senators president and general manager Steve Staios commented on the signing in a statement, saying, “Claude brings valuable veteran leadership and competitive spirit to our team. His presence has been consistently impactful both on and off the ice. We look forward to having him back next season.”
Before joining Ottawa on a three-year deal ahead of the 2022-23 season, Giroux spent parts of 15 seasons with Philadelphia. Over his three seasons with the Senators, the 37-year-old forward has demonstrated remarkable durability, missing only one regular-season game while accumulating 71 goals and 193 points.
In the 2024-25 season, he recorded 15 goals and 35 assists.
The seasoned veteran, with 18 NHL seasons under his belt, boasts career totals of 365 goals and 1,116 points across 1,263 regular-season games, plus an additional 29 goals and 86 points in 101 playoff appearances.
