The Columbus Blue Jackets need the Montreal Canadiens to lose to make the playoffs. An unexpected source is doing what they can to help.

Local news station WSYX ABC 6, from ABC News in Central Ohio, sent messages to two former Blue Jackets now with the Hurricanes, Jack Roslovic and Eric Robinson. They asked them to defeat Montreal to improve the Blue Jackets` chances of reaching the post-season.

Robinson spent his first seven seasons in Columbus and scored his first NHL goal against the Canadiens. The news station highlighted this connection in their message.

The message to Robinson said it would be a great story if he could lead the Hurricanes to victory and help his old teammates against the team where he scored his first goal.

Unfortunately for the news station, Carolina`s first-round playoff spot is already set. They have called up four AHL players for the game against Montreal, making Robinson and Roslovic`s participation uncertain.

The news station`s message to Roslovic, who played four years in Columbus, acknowledged that Carolina might want to rest players. However, they asked him to “play his heart out for the 614” (area code for Columbus).

It is unusual for local news stations to contact former players for assistance, but they are exploring every possibility.
