A. Carraro Prosecco DOC Conegliano has booked its place in the CEV Champions League Women’s Final Four, advancing despite a narrow 3-2 home defeat to Zeren Spor Kulübü Ankara in a thrilling quarter-final second leg.
The Italian squad’s progression was secured thanks to a dominant 3-0 victory in the first leg. On their home court, Conegliano further solidified their overall lead by winning the opening two sets of the second match, guaranteeing their spot in Istanbul. There, they will continue their quest for a third consecutive European title.
Conegliano began the second leg strongly, taking the first two sets with scores of 25-21 and 25-17. However, Ankara staged a remarkable comeback, claiming the next three sets in a dramatic turnaround that also ended Conegliano’s impressive 29-match winning streak.
Aleksandra Uzelac was the leading scorer for Ankara with 28 points, supported by Anna Lazareva with 22. For Conegliano, Zhu Ting delivered 24 points, while Isabelle Haak contributed 14.
Zeren Ankara exits the competition at the quarter-final stage, but not before delivering a statement win over the reigning champions. Conegliano, on the other hand, sets its sights on the Final Four in Istanbul, scheduled for May 2–3.
