Calgary Flames received good news Friday: Connor Zary avoided a broken leg.
Despite losing to the Dallas Stars 5-2, the bigger concern was Zary`s injury after a collision with Mikko Rantanen, initially feared to be a broken leg.
Sportsnet`s Eric Francis reported that Zary`s leg is not broken, and he will undergo imaging Friday afternoon. Knee damage is also believed to be less severe than initially feared.
Zary sustained the injury during a collision with Rantanen in the third period and left the game.
Rantanen lost balance and slid into Zary, causing Zary`s knee to bend awkwardly.
Zary was in pain and received on-ice treatment before being helped off the ice.
Adding to concerns, Zary recently recovered from a knee injury in January, which sidelined him for almost a month.
Zary has scored 13 goals and 26 points in 53 games this season.
