Thursday at the Scotiabank Saddledome saw some concerning moments.
Connor Zary, the Calgary Flames` center, left the game in the third period after an awkward collision with Mikko Rantanen, a Dallas Stars winger, and did not return.
Midway through the third period, Rantanen lost his footing and slid into Zary along the boards. Zary`s knee seemed to get caught, bending at an unnatural angle as he fell.
The 23-year-old visibly showed pain, clutching his left knee. He remained on the ice while trainers attended to him, and then teammates helped him off.
It`s especially worrying for the Flames because Zary had a significant knee injury in January that sidelined him for almost a month.
Head coach Ryan Huska did not have an update on Zary after the game concluded.
This season, the Saskatoon native has scored 13 goals and accumulated 26 points over 53 games.
