Calgary Flames forward Connor Zary will be out of the lineup for a week-to-week period due to a lower-body injury, the team has announced.
There was some relief for Calgary as reports indicated Zary did not suffer a broken leg during Thursday`s game against the Dallas Stars. However, the forward`s injury will still keep him off the ice for some time.
Zary sustained the injury following an awkward collision with Dallas Stars player Rantanen in the third period and was unable to continue playing in the game.
Midway through the third period, Rantanen lost his footing and slid into Zary along the sideboards. Zary`s knee appeared to get caught, bending at an unnatural angle as he fell.
The 23-year-old Saskatoon native showed clear signs of pain, clutching his left knee. He remained on the ice while trainers attended to him before being helped off the ice by his teammates.
This season, Zary has scored 13 goals and accumulated 26 points in 53 games.
