It`s often said that you can`t fully stop Cale Makar, only hope to contain him.
The Dallas Stars have managed to do a relatively good job of containing the Colorado Avalanche defenseman throughout this series. Despite this, Makar had a significant performance in Game 6, recording a goal (an empty-netter), two assists, and six shots. As the series heads to a decisive Game 7 on Saturday night, Dallas`s ability to limit Makar`s impact will be crucial for their chances of victory.
Makar is widely recognized as an elite player, arguably among the top five globally, and was recently nominated by his peers for the Ted Lindsay Award, as well as the Norris Trophy. While the NHL boasts many talented defensemen, Makar`s skills arguably place him in a category of his own. This season, he became the first blueliner since 2008-09, and only the second in the last 30 years, to score 30 goals. Furthermore, with two consecutive seasons of 90 or more points, reaching the 100-point milestone seems like a distinct possibility for him in the future.
