UFC CEO Dana White has confirmed that a fight between the promotion`s middleweight champion Dricus Du Plessis and Khamzat Chimaev is scheduled to happen. However, he clarified that this highly anticipated bout will not take place at the UFC 317 tournament in June, contrary to earlier expectations.
Speaking at a press conference, White stated:
“Yes, yesterday I announced several fights, but it was not among them. We all know that the fight between Chimaev and Du Plessis will take place, but not during the International Fight Week. The match is scheduled, but it will happen in a different location.”
It is worth noting that rumors previously circulated suggesting Du Plessis had suffered an injury that would require a lengthy recovery period. The middleweight champion later publicly denied these reports.
