UFC welterweight contender Jack Della Maddalena has weighed in on a potential upcoming bout against the reigning lightweight champion, Islam Makhachev. Reports have circulated suggesting that a fight between the Australian fighter and the Dagestani champion could materialize later this year, potentially in the fall.
Speaking about Makhachev`s potential move up to the welterweight division, Della Maddalena offered his analysis. “Islam has essentially spent his entire UFC career at lightweight. He hasn`t really fought at welterweight since he was very young,” Della Maddalena stated in an interview with The Grin Reapers. He elaborated on the physical demands Makhachev would face: “To compete here, he`ll need to build muscle to handle the wrestling, but I believe gaining that weight will make him tire out more quickly.”
