The New Jersey Devils are heading to the Stanley Cup Playoffs! Their playoff berth was secured on Wednesday, even though they didn`t play.

The Philadelphia Flyers` 8-5 victory over the New York Rangers on Wednesday guaranteed the Devils` place in the postseason.

Following the Rangers` defeat, the Devils are guaranteed to finish no lower than third in the Metropolitan Division.

With the Washington Capitals securing first place in the division, the Devils are set to face the Carolina Hurricanes in the first round of the playoffs. To gain home-ice advantage in the first round, the Devils, who are currently seven points behind the Hurricanes with only four games remaining, would need to win all their remaining games and hope for favorable results from Carolina.

The New Jersey Devils are the seventh Eastern Conference team to confirm their playoff participation. The Montreal Canadiens are currently in a strong position to claim the final eighth playoff spot in the conference.
