Draisaitl’s Challenging Night Reflects Oilers’ Deserved Defeat in Game 3

Sometimes, even the league`s best players have tough outings.

And occasionally, a team`s effort or lack thereof results in a deserved outcome.

Leon Draisaitl found himself involved in three goals against during the 4-3 loss. Despite recording two assists earlier in the game, his difficult night culminated in inadvertently directing the decisive goal into his own net with a mere 0.4 seconds remaining.

It was a night to forget for Draisaitl, who stands as the only player this NHL season to reach both 50 goals and 100 points, especially considering he had been the hero scoring the overtime winner in Game 2 just two nights prior.

However, in this particular game at Rogers Place, following a turnover in the Vegas zone that led to the Golden Knights` opening goal and a disorganized line change contributing to their second, a shot that seemed destined to miss the net entirely ricocheted off Draisaitl`s stick and went in, securing the game-winning goal with less than a second left on the clock.

The final 10 seconds were squandered by the Oilers. They had battled back to tie the game with just 3:02 remaining – benefiting from a fortunate deflection off Brayden McNabb`s skate themselves – only to give the Golden Knights a final, fateful opportunity.
