Draisaitl’s Overtime Goal Completes Oilers Comeback, Ties Series with Kings

EDMONTON – Leon Draisaitl netted the winning goal on a power play at 18:18 of overtime and contributed three assists, leading the Edmonton Oilers to a dramatic 4-3 victory over the Los Angeles Kings on Sunday. This win allowed the Oilers to tie their first-round playoff series at two games apiece.

The game went into overtime after Evan Bouchard scored his second goal of the night with only 29 seconds left in the third period. A late power play opportunity arose for Edmonton in overtime when Vladislav Gavrikov was penalized for tripping Connor McDavid. Draisaitl capitalized on the advantage, burying a rebound for his third goal of the postseason.

Corey Perry also chipped in with a goal and an assist, while McDavid added two helpers for the Oilers. Edmonton has now won two consecutive home games to rebound after dropping the initial two contests of the best-of-seven series in Los Angeles.

Trevor Moore, Warren Foegele, and Kevin Fiala scored for the Kings. Los Angeles is still seeking their first playoff series win since 2014, the year they won the Stanley Cup by defeating the New York Rangers.
