Experience Unprecedented Realism in EA Sports F1 25

F1 25 is set to become the most realistic and current F1 racing simulator upon its release. We visited Codemasters studio in Birmingham, England, to get an in-depth look. We had the opportunity to play the newest version of F1 25 and learn about all the exciting new features that dedicated fans will appreciate.

Experienced players will immediately notice enhancements that make the tracks more authentic than ever. Bahrain, Miami, Melbourne, Suzuka, and Imola have been updated with LIDAR track scans. LIDAR, or `laser imaging, detection, and ranging,` enables tracks to be rendered with incredibly accurate bends and corners. These scans were conducted during Grand Prix race weekends, ensuring that even specific barrier placements from those events are reflected in the game.

Lee Mather, senior creative director, confirms that dedicated fans who have spent countless hours playing F1 games will recognize the difference.

`This was pointed out by a few people, particularly concerning the “Mickey Mouse” section under the overpass in Miami,` Mather explained. `Our initial version, based on the data available during track construction, was quite tight. While it is narrow in reality, the LIDAR version actually provides a bit more space. This particular section stood out to me the most.`

Further improvements include a more realistic track surface texture and updated vegetation for all LIDAR tracks. Trees appear denser and bushier, and new species have been added to enhance the realism of each track`s environment. You might not fully appreciate the difference until you race around Suzuka and observe the cherry blossom trees lining the horizon, accurately positioned as they are in real life. These seemingly minor adjustments significantly enhance the atmosphere of each track.

Three non-LIDAR tracks, Silverstone, Austria, and Zandvoort, have also been refreshed. Notably, these are the first tracks in F1 history that players can race on in reverse. Developing Reverse Tracks is more complex than it seems, but these additions will offer seasoned players a completely fresh way to experience classic circuits.

Adding to the excitement are refined and unique engine sounds, a new Decal Editor, Path Tracing on PC, new events in F1 World, and 8K resolution support at launch on PS5 Pro. F1 25`s upgrades and improvements are substantial. While some changes might seem subtle individually, their collective impact creates a distinct and immersive experience. LIDAR-scanned tracks are a major highlight, but it`s the combination of all the enhancements that truly elevates F1 25, making it feel like a genuinely new and engaging game.
