Flames call up top prospect Zayne Parekh from OHL

The Calgary Flames are boosting their roster as they push for a playoff spot.

Zayne Parekh, a highly-rated young player, has been called up from the Saginaw Spirit of the OHL, the team announced on Tuesday.

The 19-year-old defenseman was outstanding for Saginaw this season, playing 61 games and scoring 107 points with 33 goals and 74 assists.

Parekh, who is from Nobleton, Ontario, was picked by Calgary as the ninth overall selection in last year`s draft.

The Flames are currently four points away from a wild-card playoff position in the Western Conference, with 87 points in 77 games.

They will play against the Anaheim Ducks on Wednesday, and Parekh might play his first NHL game then.
