The Calgary Flames will have their captain, Mikael Backlund, back in the lineup when they face the Dallas Stars.
Mikael Backlund confirmed to reporters on Thursday morning that he is ready to return after being sidelined for six games due to an upper-body injury.
The injury occurred on March 12 in a game against the Vancouver Canucks when Backlund delivered a hit to Canucks defenseman Victor Mancini and appeared uncomfortable afterward.
In that game, Backlund played for only 2 minutes and 58 seconds over five shifts before exiting in the first period.
This season, Backlund has accumulated 11 goals and 13 assists in 64 games.
Coach Ryan Huska also mentioned that Rasmus Andersson will be available to play against the Stars, despite missing the morning skate.
The Flames are currently four points behind the St. Louis Blues for the final wild-card spot in the Western Conference, with three games in hand.
