Former Ottawa Senators goaltender Craig Anderson made a notable appearance at Canadian Tire Centre on Thursday evening. He was invited to ring the ceremonial bell ahead of the team`s first home playoff game since their run to the Eastern Conference Final in the 2016-17 season, eight years prior.
Anderson was a key figure in that 2017 playoff push, having played in all 19 post-season games for Ottawa. His return to the arena for this special moment was a connection to a recent high point in the team`s history.
Following the bell-ringing, Anderson spoke with Sportsnet`s Kyle Bukauskas. He described the atmosphere inside the building as “electric.”
Reflecting on being back in the city, Anderson commented, “The fans here are unbelievable. It`s great to be back in the city that supported me for all these years. I`m looking forward to just watching these boys come out here and battle their butts off.”
His presence and comments highlighted the excitement surrounding the Senators` return to playoff hockey at home.
