Formula 1 2026 Calendar: Madrid GP Debuts as Imola Dropped

Formula 1 has unveiled its calendar for the 2026 season, confirming a new event in Madrid and the removal of the race held at Imola.

The planned 24-race schedule received official approval from the FIA, F1`s governing body, during its World Motor Sport Council meeting on Tuesday.

While the Madrid race was initially announced in 2024, its place on the calendar is contingent upon the circuit receiving final homologation from the FIA.

This new addition means Imola, whose current contract concluded with the May race, has been dropped, maintaining F1`s target of 24 events.

In addition to Madrid, the Monaco Grand Prix date has shifted from its usual late May weekend to early June, avoiding a conflict with the Indianapolis 500.

The Canadian Grand Prix has also been rescheduled to late May, facilitating the transport of equipment by keeping it in North America after the Miami race, rather than shipping it to Europe.

The season will commence on March 8 in Australia, spanning ten months before concluding with the final race in Abu Dhabi on December 6.

The 2026 season marks the debut of new technical regulations, including updated hybrid power units. These new engines will draw power equally from a battery system and an internal combustion engine fueled by sustainable sources.

The grid will also expand with the entry of Cadillac as the 11th team. Furthermore, the Sauber team will be rebranded as Audi, and Ford will collaborate with Red Bull as an engine supplier.

The United States will continue to host three events: the Miami Grand Prix on May 3, the U.S. Grand Prix in Austin, Texas, on October 25, and the Las Vegas Grand Prix on November 21.
