Colorado Avalanche captain Gabriel Landeskog, despite practicing with the team this week, will not be making his comeback to the NHL ice on Saturday.
Landeskog participated in the morning skate before Game 1 against the Dallas Stars. However, according to reports, he was not present for warmups, indicating that he will not be part of Colorado`s lineup for the game.
Coach Jared Bednar mentioned on Friday that Landeskog was being considered for a possible return as the Avalanche begin their playoff journey on the road.
Bednar commented, `He is progressing well. Each day, he seems to be gaining speed, confidence, and assurance. He is expected to be available for selection at some point during this series.`
Earlier in the week, Landeskog rejoined the Avalanche for practice after playing two games in the AHL as part of his rehabilitation.
The prominent Swedish player has been struggling with knee issues for the past three years, undergoing two surgeries. His last appearance was in Game 6 of the 2022 Stanley Cup Final, where Colorado secured victory against the Tampa Bay Lightning.
Game 1 between Dallas and the Avalanche is scheduled for Saturday.
