Vegas Golden Knights centre Nicolas Roy`s participation in Game 2 was abruptly ended Thursday night.

Approximately five minutes into the first overtime period, Roy received a five-minute major penalty and a game misconduct for a high cross-check on Edmonton Oilers forward Trent Frederic.

The incident occurred along the boards during a puck battle. Roy swung his stick towards the airborne puck but struck Frederic in the face.

Frederic fell to the ice, clearly bleeding. The major penalty against Roy was confirmed after an automatic review. Edmonton was given a five-minute power play but failed to score.

Despite the injury, Frederic was able to continue playing.
