Golden Knights Coach Cassidy Deems Hit on Hertl ‘Senseless’

Vegas Golden Knights head coach Bruce Cassidy expressed strong disapproval of a late hit that resulted in an injury to one of his key players.

During Sunday`s game, with the Golden Knights leading the Tampa Bay Lightning 3-1 in the final period, Vegas forward Tomas Hertl was forcefully checked into the boards by Lightning defenseman Emil Lilleberg following a breakaway attempt.

Hertl was unable to continue playing and left the game, not returning. Lilleberg was penalized with a two-minute boarding minor.

Following the game, Cassidy openly voiced his negative opinion of Lilleberg`s hit.

“To me, it was a senseless hit,” the Golden Knights head coach stated to reporters.
