The Vegas Golden Knights have secured a piece of their future defense by signing young blue-liner Kaedan Korczak to a four-year contract extension. The deal is reportedly worth $13 million, carrying an average annual value of $3.25 million.
Announced on Wednesday, this extension keeps Korczak with the team through the 2029-30 NHL season. The move provides added depth and stability on the Golden Knights` defensive corps, particularly as questions surround veteran defenseman Alex Pietrangelo.
Korczak, who is 24 years old, had a career-best season last year, appearing in 40 games for Vegas. During that time, he contributed 10 assists and finished with an impressive plus-15 rating.
A native of Yorkton, Saskatchewan, Korczak was originally drafted by the Golden Knights in the second round, 41st overall, in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft.
Since joining the professional ranks, Korczak has played 77 NHL games, recording a total of one goal and 20 assists.
