Hurricanes’ Nikolaj Ehlers Makes Emotional Choice by Leaving Jets

Nikolaj Ehlers was seeking a fresh start.

After dedicating his entire professional career to the Winnipeg Jets, the talented forward recently signed a six-year contract valued at $51 million with the Carolina Hurricanes on Thursday.

Speaking publicly for the first time since finalizing the agreement, Ehlers conveyed nothing but positive sentiments towards his former team and city.

“As I told them, they didn`t do anything wrong,” he explained during a Zoom call with the media on Saturday. “I was there for a decade, and I truly loved it there. I have great affection for the organization, the people within it, and my teammates. They became like family.”
