Forward Taylor Hall will remain with the Carolina Hurricanes. The team has officially announced that Hall has signed a three-year contract extension.
The new deal for the 33-year-old carries an annual average value (AAV) of $3.167 million.
Hall joined the Hurricanes in January as part of a significant three-team trade that also involved Mikko Rantanen and included the Colorado Avalanche and Chicago Blackhawks.
“Taylor has proven to be an outstanding fit for our team, and we are thrilled that he is excited to make Raleigh his home for another three seasons,” stated Hurricanes general manager Eric Tulsky in the team’s news release. “He’s been a solid veteran presence in the locker room and a difference maker on the ice.”
Since arriving in Carolina, the Calgary native recorded 18 points, scoring nine goals and adding nine assists, in 31 regular-season games. He has also contributed to the team`s playoff run, collecting one goal and two assists in five postseason appearances.
The Hurricanes were the first team to advance in the current postseason, having defeated the New Jersey Devils in a five-game series.
Selected first overall by the Edmonton Oilers in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft, Hall spent six seasons with the Oilers organization. His career has also included stints with the New Jersey Devils, Arizona Coyotes, Buffalo Sabres, Boston Bruins, and Chicago Blackhawks before landing in Carolina.
