Hutson Blames Himself for Ovechkin’s Game-Winning Goal

Montreal Canadiens rookie defenseman Lane Hutson is taking his first-ever Stanley Cup Playoffs loss to heart.

Despite contributing two assists in his playoff debut, Hutson was focused on what he could have done to prevent Monday`s Game 1 defeat against the Washington Capitals.

The rookie defenseman was marking Alex Ovechkin when the Capitals` captain scored the overtime goal. Hutson took responsibility for the decisive goal after the game.

`I lost my check twice, and they scored,` Hutson admitted. `It`s a learning experience, but it`s tough that it happened in that moment.`
