Ian Garry: “I still don’t consider that I lost to Rakhmonov”

Top Irish UFC welterweight Ian Garry has reflected on his fight against Kazakh fighter Shavkat Rakhmonov, which took place in December of the previous year.

Garry stated, “I still believe that I did not lose that fight. He was struggling to breathe and was grateful that the fight ended. But I was ready to continue. The strongest feeling after that fight was joy. I was very proud and happy that I fought against the most dangerous fighter in the division on short notice and put on such a performance.”

He added that the bout with Shavkat demonstrated his undeniable path to becoming the world`s best fighter and a champion. Garry is confident that they will face each other again, and he will prove his superiority to the world. These comments were made in an interview with ESPN MMA.

Garry is set to return to the octagon this weekend at the UFC on ESPN 66 event in Las Vegas, USA. His opponent will be Brazil`s Carlos Prates.
