Current UFC featherweight titleholder Ilia Topuria has announced his plans to move up to the lightweight division.
Topuria stated, “I am the UFC lightweight champion. I am completely certain of this, otherwise I would not be changing weight classes. I don`t engage in fights unless I am confident in my victory. None of the fighters in the lightweight division are at my level.”
It is worth noting that in late February, Topuria announced his intention to relinquish his featherweight belt and transition to lightweight. While he technically remains the featherweight champion for now, the title will officially become vacant when the fight between Alexander Volkanovski and Diego Lopez commences on April 14th.
