Fifth-seeded Jasmine Paolini faced a stern challenge from wildcard entrant Jule Niemeier but ultimately prevailed to reach the quarterfinals of the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix for the second consecutive year. Paolini secured the victory with a score of 6-1, 7-5, successfully saving a set point in the second set.
Niemeier demonstrated her prowess with a remarkable tweener shot in the second set, retrieving a lob from Paolini and executing a shot with both pace and sharp angle. Despite Niemeier`s brilliance, Paolini showcased her net skills, responding with a volley winner to level the game at 3-3.
Paolini`s strong performance in the crucial moments of the match proved decisive. After winning seven games in a row against a Niemeier struggling with errors to lead 6-1, 2-0, Paolini had to battle to fend off the local player`s attempted comeback. Niemeier managed to break back against Paolini twice. However, she faltered on her own set point, mishitting a backhand. Paolini then recovered, unleashing powerful groundstroke winners to win the final three games consecutively.
Paolini progresses to her second quarterfinal of 2025 and is set to compete against either fourth seed Coco Gauff or German lucky loser Ella Seidel in her next match.
