Jets’ Hellebuyck on playoff struggles: ‘I am going to be better’

WINNIPEG — Winnipeg Jets goaltender Connor Hellebuyck insists his confidence hasn`t wavered despite being pulled in the team`s two most recent playoff losses.

Hellebuyck, who was announced Monday as a finalist for the Vezina Trophy, told reporters he feels mentally prepared heading into Wednesday’s pivotal Game 5 at home against St. Louis.

The Blues knotted the best-of-seven Western Conference first-round series at 2-2 with convincing victories in St. Louis, winning 5-1 on Sunday and 7-2 last Thursday.

“You don’t love giving up that many goals, but we’re 2-2 in the series. That’s all that matters. Win the next one,” Hellebuyck said. He made these comments after he and most of his teammates did not participate in Monday’s optional skate.
