UFC light heavyweight fighter Johnny Walker recently offered his assessment of fellow contender Magomed Ankalaev.

Walker described Ankalaev as an exceptionally “technical fighter” and a “high-level professional,” also acknowledging his strong showing in the bout against Pereira. Reflecting on their own past contests, Walker openly admitted that at the time of their first meeting, he felt he “wasn’t at that level to be able to beat him.”

He elaborated on how Ankalaev capitalized on a seemingly minor error to secure a victory against him. Discussing their rematch, Walker explained his mistake: “after the kick, I should have pulled my leg back” but instead left it exposed. This tactical error, he noted, allowed Magomed to “catch my leg and knock me out.” Walker concluded his comments by affirming Ankalaev`s status as a “championship-level fighter.”
