Jon Jones Discusses His ‘Unhealthy’ Obsession with Winning

Jon Jones, the current UFC heavyweight champion, has acknowledged his profound obsession with securing victories.

He commented, “I don`t foresee a future where I am not a winner, where I am someone who loses a match. My fixation on winning is too strong. It`s likely an unhealthy aspect of my personality.”

Jones contrasted his perspective with that of other athletes: “I`ve observed fighters who lose and can still manage a smile, hugging their partners and thinking, `There`s always next time.` For me, however, if I were ever defeated, I would be utterly crushed, filled with rage and disappointment, and would probably enter a state of depression.”

He concluded by describing this drive as fundamental to his identity: “That`s the core of my winner`s mentality. I feel compelled to invest everything I have into every endeavor, striving for the absolute peak level of performance. It`s about pushing myself to the absolute limit of my capabilities – anything less is not an option.”
