Kasatkina to Represent Australia After Securing Residency

World No. 12 Daria Kasatkina is set to represent Australia in professional tennis. This announcement follows her acquisition of permanent residency in the country.

The 27-year-old tennis player shared her decision on Friday via Instagram, stating her plans to reside in Melbourne and compete under the Australian flag.

“Australia is a place I love, a country that is incredibly welcoming, and where I truly feel at home,” Kasatkina stated. “Therefore, I am proud to announce that I will be representing my new homeland, Australia, in my professional tennis career going forward.”

Since 2022, Kasatkina has been competing under a neutral flag due to the restrictions imposed on Russian and Belarusian players following the invasion of Ukraine.

Her tennis achievements include reaching the French Open semifinals in 2022 and securing eight WTA singles titles. Her highest career ranking reached No. 8.

Tennis Australia confirmed on Saturday the approval of Kasatkina`s residency.

The federation welcomed her in a response to her post, stating, `Welcome to the Aussie tennis family.` The Australian Open`s official Instagram account also extended a warm welcome with the message: `Dasha Down Under.`

This season, Kasatkina holds a 9–8 win-loss record. Her best performance this year was at the Australian Open, where she reached the Round of 16 after winning her initial three matches.
