The Seattle Kraken have secured their first-round selection from the 2025 draft.

The club announced on Thursday that they have signed forward Jake O`Brien to a three-year entry-level contract. The contract carries an average annual value of $975,000.

O`Brien, who is 18 years old, was the eighth overall pick in the draft held last June.

“We are thrilled to have Jake signed to his initial professional contract,” stated Kraken general manager Jason Botterill in the team`s announcement. “Jake possesses elite vision and hockey sense, a tremendous work ethic, and a solid two-way game. He knows this is only the beginning. We anticipate his continued growth.”

Last season, playing for the OHL`s Brantford Bulldogs in his second year with the team, O`Brien compiled 98 points (32 goals and 66 assists) across 66 regular-season games.

The forward from Toronto also contributed three goals and eight assists over 11 OHL playoff appearances.
